Let’s visit the Igbo people of Nigeria and hear a spirited retelling of this familiar tale. We’ll sing “Funga Alafia”, a traditional song from Africa and meet a tortoise from this part of the world. We’ll finish the program with a collage of soft materials. . .just what Mbeku had in mind!
Jabutií The Tortoise Jabutí (pronounced Zah-BOO-chee) the Tortoise is a bit of a trickster and the music he plays on his flute reminds animal friends of his past tricks. Jealous Vulture cannot play any music at all. So when the King of Heaven calls for a concert, Vulture offers to give Jabutí a ride and plays a trick of his own.
