Tortuga Tales

. . . it’s always about the turtles

In September, 2001, a small group of turtles. . . three, to be exact, dropped in on a kindergarten classroom in Manchester, NH and “Wild About Turtles!” was born! Although the new program was created by Miss Mary (aka, “The Turtle Lady”) it was clear right from the start that the turtles were in complete control!

. . . it’s always about the turtles

“Wild About Turtles” was, and still is, about keeping wild turtles where they belong. . . In the wild. This message comes through loud and clear using silly, “stick to your ribs” music and a lot of humor.

. . . it’s always about the turtles

Now it is 2005 (where has the time gone?) and the turtles have visited nearly 150 preschools, learning centers, and elementary schools throughout New Hampshire, northern Massachusetts and southern Maine. Though sometimes it takes them a while to get where they’re going (we’re talkin’ turtles here). . . “What’s next?” ask the educators. “What’s next?” ask the turtles. Both want something new... A fresh and exciting way to share a love of the earth and turtles with children.

. . . it’s always about the turtles

So, the Turtle Lady went back to work, knowing that the turtles would be in complete control ... and “Tortuga Tales” was, well ... HATCHED!!!

after all, it’s always about the turtles

Each story in the Tortuga Tales series is loaded with catchy tunes, interpretive movement, process oriented arts and visiting turtles, all with a multicultural theme! As with all programs, Tortuga Tales encourages child participation, creative thinking, and lots of laughs.
